The Ashburn Soccer Club (ASC) LIGHTNING is an established girl’s travel team looking to add players to the roster for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 seasons. If your daughter is currently playing in the U11 age group for House or Recreation, SFL, or another travel team and is looking to take her skills to the next level and compete in a more challenging environment – the LIGHTNING is the right choice for you! The team plans to continue its skill development and team play development in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL) during the next two seasons and will then move to the Washington Area Girls (WAGS) soccer league at U13. LIGHTNING players participate in a year-round professional training program provided by Jim Mensah of Sampson Soccer. The program focuses on foot skills, creativity, self-confidence, and playing in fast-paced, attacking style of soccer. Jim brings extensive experience to the development of the LIGHTNING players. He has been a coach or trainer since 2000 and is currently the Coach for a U17 Boys – Division 2 NCSL team and was previously the Coach for the Loudoun County High School Boys Varsity team. Our goal is to provide quality training to develop each player’s individual skills to the fullest while unifying them into a cohesive team. The players are challenged to realize their full potential within a competitive environment that seeks to nurture a love for soccer and a desire to excel - not only as soccer players, but also as athletes, students, and people. Age Requirement: Rising U12 girls, born on or after 1 AUG 1996 are eligible to attend try-outs and become part of the ASC LIGHTNING. Enthusiastic and interested players looking to take their soccer skills to the next level and compete in a more challenging environment should try to attend at least two try-out sessions.
